CurrentMy first summer at RTP was spent working for the FR (Flame Retardant) group. I was assigned a summer project that resulted in lowering the price of a popular glass-filled nylon formula with FR additives. Because of this, RTP was able to beat out the competition for a large-scale job.My second summer at RTP was spent working under the Conductive department. I was assigned a summer project that combined my FR experience with newly gained knowledge about EMI shielding thermoplastics. I am continuing to work part-time at RTP during the school year to continue expanding my composite knowledge and skills.• Developed and mixed formulas for flame retardant thermoplastic compounds• Operated extruder and injection molder for compounds• Completed tensile, flexural, and impact testing on plastic bars using ASTM standards• Analyzed results to achieve a lower manufacturing cost while maintaining customer requirements
