Hello! My name is Parker, and I'm a social media and community manager with a passion for finding unique ways to represent brands online. I'm a problem solver who thrives on the challenge of utilizing social media to build genuine connections between brands and their communities. The perfect mix of left and right brain, I love developing creative content just as much as I love organizing a good spreadsheet.I have over a decade's worth of social media and community management experience, including professional (5 yrs), volunteer (7 yrs), and personal projects (3 yrs). In addition, I have over 10 years' worth of customer service experience, and I'm also a published photographer. I studied Media Communications at Webster University for 3 years, where I took every digital media-related class available in the course catalogue. Hungry for more knowledge and practical experience, I transferred to Lindenwood University in my junior year for their Digital Content Strategy major. Shortly after, I secured a full-time summer internship as a social media manager and photo editor for an online travel publication – I quickly became so valuable to the team that I was offered a salaried position three months later. After 2 years there, I transitioned to the role of Associate Community and Content Manager at ZooPix. When the app was acquired by Chewy, we changed our name to The Zoo and I converted to the general role of Content Manager. Like most professionals in the field of social media/community management, I have worn MANY different hats throughout my career: content creator, community builder, analytics specialist, digital marketer, copywriter, social strategist, meme expert, customer service representative, proofreader, moderator, project coordinator, photo/video editor, trend watcher, image copyright specialist, front-end web designer, and even game show host! 😆Aside from my career ambitions, I'm a nerd at heart who loves video games, books, and anything pop culture. I'm a HUGE music fan who gets way too excited about reorganizing Spotify playlists and seeing my favorite bands on tour. I live with my adorable cats in St. Louis, MO.

    The Zoo is a social media app that was acquired by Chewy in 2022. It’s essentially Instagram, but just for pets! We have weekly themed photo Challenges, custom profiles for each of your pets, and fun interactions where you can “boop” your friends’ posts. It’s a super cute and quirky app that I have had the pleasure of working on for the past several years. Throughout my time working at The Zoo, I have:- Curated content, created original content, and scheduled social media posts across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok- Created, scheduled, and coordinated photo Challenges hosted by The Zoo and users within the app each week- Designed and implemented new features including Challenges, updates to profiles, as well as updates to modules on the feed and on the Discover page- Single-handedly moderated all content shared on the app from 2021 through early 2023, then again throughout all of 2024- Responded to all email inquiries and app reviews, helped troubleshoot tech issues, and communicated new features and updates to the community on a regular basis- Worked with engineering team on updates, QA testing and bug hunting for each new app release- Coordinated with external marketing agency to run paid adverts across all social platforms- Connected with influencers in the pet industry to bring them to our platform and create a unique, beneficial experience for them- Worked alongside the main Chewy social media team to coordinate posts on Instagram, as well as collaborating with the social team on company-wide initiatives surrounding the yearly holiday program Chewy Claus- Helped the Chewy Vet Care team ideate ideas for social content and respond to all customer contacts- Assisted the App Marketing Team in tracking the success of all holiday push notifications for the 2024 season

    I worked seasonally as a barista, lounge supervisor, and photographer at Mauhaus Cat Cafe during 2017-18. I was responsible for enforcing all of DisneyMMO's rules and community guidelines, hosting games and other events in the chatroom, and fostering a unique, engaged community that was inclusive of all users.My years of experience as a moderator were an incredible crash-course in learning how to adjust my written tone depending on the situation, and how to speak with an authoritative voice when representing DisneyMMO.
