I’m a flight instructor and an instrument, commercial and multi-engine rated pilot fulfilling a childhood dream of being a professional pilot. I particularly enjoy working with mid-career adults and children who want to learn to fly. I have about 630 hours total time with complex, high-performance, and tailwheel endorsements, including over 350 hours in an RV-8 and an RV-6A I built and flew around the country. I am currently working on CFII and an A&P rating. Would love to talk to any pilots you know, especially those flying as a second career.

Josu is a new brand of flavored salts inspired by Korean cuisine. All of our salts are sourced from our own family farm on the island of Imjado, South Korea. The farm has been in Hae-Sin’s family for four generations and her parents harvest the salt we use. The salt tastes great, has some of the highest mineral concentrations in the world, and is good for the planet (we use only the power of the sun). We the people who care about our climate, in order to form a more impactful movement, provide for the defense and welfare of our planet, secure the environment for our children and future generations, and transform our concern into a political force powerful enough to affect real political change, do ordain and establish the Climate Changemakers, a non-partisan community created to turn small, doable actions into big world-saving change.

The Tego Adventure Kit is the world's first bag designed BY you, FOR you. It has seven sections (for now) that you slide together to create hundreds of carry options for your stuff. Every bag is made from 2.7 post consumer recycled PET bottles. Our third campaign, launched in August 2021, was fully funded in 9 minutes, raised close to $200,000 and was a Kickstarter "Project We Love". All campaigns were successfully fulfilled.

In my second year as a FUSE fellow, I worked with the Alameda County Library and the City of Fremont to explore how the library can be a catalyst for innovation in the community. Among other projects, I led an Innovation Team to design a culture and processes to increase the success of library, city and county initiatives, designed an innovation space where the community can come together to define the skills needed to thrive in today’s jobs and created programs such as Sparkboxes and Artists in Residence to support these initiatives.

I was (am) a founding member of the design team for Urban Montessori Charter School, a public charter school that combines the Montessori curriculum with Design Thinking and arts integration. We think Superwoman (http://www.urbanmontessori.org/superwoman-was-already-here) was already here and that this combination could revolutionize education in the US. UMCS' charter was just renewed for a second five-year term and we had over 400 applications for 40 spots in our incoming kindergarten class.

Mirus is a design studio that lives at the intersection of innovation, the maker movement and education. We partner with schools and other learning organizations to create spaces and experiences that encourage creativity, wonder and learning. Here is a sampling of recent projects:How might we integrate design thinking into the curriculum and culture of the school?Francis Parker School in San Diego. We crafted a 12-month collaborative journey to create a design thinking process tailored to their culture and community, train teacher volunteers on how to use the process and brainstorm projects for specific grade levels.How might we make it easier to learn CAD?Autodesk - Autodesk was interested in helping elementary and middle school students learn CAD skills With the product team, we created a scope and sequence for all skills needed to master Tinkercad and Meshmixer. Then we created and produced 20 skill builder and 15 open-ended projects to support the scope and sequence.How might we help teachers develop a maker mindset?Oakland Unified School District - To help schools that received NGLC grants incorporate maker education, we developed and facilitated the Oakland Maker Fellow Program, a 6-day professional development expedition to help teachers develop a maker mindset, understand the relevance of these skills in the workplace, learn about technologies currently shaping the maker movement and develop making experiences for their classrooms. The program has been run for two years supporting 40 participants now implementing across grades K-12.

With my partner David Yakos, I invented a building toy called MakerStudio that is licensed and distributed by ThinkFun. MakerStudio contains all of the hard parts to create something that moves-the wheels, axles, gears but encourages builders to upcycle a cardboard box, a potato chip can or some other household object to complete their project. In a first for the toy industry, all of the design files were available on Thingiverse so you can modify and replace parts. MakerStudio won a Techlicious Best of Toy Fair Award and was mentioned on GeekDad, KidScreen, DadDoes and Amy Loves Toys.

I led the DARPA-funded MENTOR Makerspace program, the first official program to create makerspaces in schools. My team of five created a Makerspace-in-a-Box and introduced it to our schools with a playbook of projects, created in-person and online events for professional development and wrote the first Makerspace Playbook documenting everything we learned.

Designed an exclusive online marketplace that leverages $2 trillion spending power of Intuit's 4 million SMB customers.• Created game-changing product road map that won top-level support across the organization• Sourced ecommerce partner to leverage supplier relationships and integrate their value-added features to Intuit's online marketplace product. Collaborated with board of directors and CEO of this 700-person partner.• Assembled and led a talented engineering team to design easysaver.intuit.com and integrate it into QuickBooks .• Drove "startup-style" iterative release model, rolling out beta version to 20% of QuickBooks users to leverage them as partners in development. THE NEXT BIG THING…Accessing decades of "big data" from millions of QuickBooks users to differentiate from leading online marketplaces, including Amazon.

Plastic Jungle was the leading destination for buying, selling and donating gift cards. This enabled consumers to unlock some of the $40 billion in cash currently stored in unused gift cards. I was the first product person and the third non-operations employee at PJ. My responsibilities were helping to define the business objectives and creating products to fulfill the objectives. As in any startup, the job required dozens of hats and relentless prioritization. On my watch here, Plastic Jungle:• Drove a 1000% increase in monthly revenue and a 600% increase in Web traffic in 14 months, including launching an online affiliate program with 2,400 affiliates generating 47% of company revenue • Designed and built a front and back office system using NetSuite and open source software that will support the company's growth to millions of users • Conceived of, negotiated, and executed a private-label mini-site for New York–based charity Donors Choose, taking it from concept to delivery in 4.5 months and making them the first nonprofit to accept gift cards as a form of donation• Executed a private-label mini-site with Amazon.com as part of an effort to make Amazon gift cards a new currency, guiding the process from concept to delivery in 5 months.• Raised $6M in VC funding as part of a 3 member leadership team.• Implemented an Agile software development process and changed the culture across the organization to support it. • Moved hosting to the Amazon cloud for an 80% reduction in hosting costs and increased website capacity.• Created an entire suite of analytics and consumer metrics including lifetime customer value, traffic source conversion, revenue by source and others that enabled us to make business and marketing decisions based on real data.

I built a 2-seat Van's Aircraft RV-8 from a kit and flew it all around our beautiful country, including across the Rockies, the Great Plains, Oshkosh, Death Valley, New York City, Florida, the Bahamas and everyplace in between. It was the adventure of a lifetime. I sold the plane to find my next venture, ShredFirst. Three years later, after selling ShredFirst, I built an RV-6A.

Launched a first-of-its-kind green-certified document destruction company, designed a 3-year business plan with an exit strategy, hired a team of 10, built a warehouse destruction system, and sourced 6 biodiesel trucks.Grew company to $1M in annual revenues by 2006 with consistent >20% year-over-year growth• Capitalized on the opportunity for "green paper shredding" after extensive research around eco-friendly B2B services.• Powered marketing campaigns, partnerships, and business development initiatives that differentiated Shred First as the only green solution available.• Sold company for 3x revenue, closing the deal with Cintas in 60 days.

- Led a 20-person cross-functional team to consolidate and organize all of Accenture's thought capital about starting and growing companies. I designed the information framework and gathered material from interviews, existing resources, and publicly available information. The result was a web-based Venturing toolkit that was used by all of Accenture's 21 Launch Centers around the world.
