Department of Neurology, Moghekar Lab- The lab focuses on disorders of the Cerebrospinal Fluid and its role in Alzheimer’s disease, and hydrocephalus. My role is to process patient samples (blood, serum, CSF and plasma) and extract DNA- Clinic-based role: Administering cognitive, gait and vision tests on patients, perform CDR (clinical dementia rating) interview and accessing the score and maintain patient database- Techniques - ELISA, WB, DNA extraction, Immunoassays (Lumipulse)

-Worked on a project on Biodosimetry, a less familiar term in biology. In the course of my dissertation at BARC, I learned various biodosimetry techniques and as a part of my project, I accomplished :-Established a biodosimetric calibration curve for radiation-induced 53BP1 foci (A rapid Proteomic tool in Biodosimetry)-Identified and scored Pelger Huet Anomaly (PHA) neutrophils, a new permanent radiation biomarker-Performed sets of mFISH and mBAND to observe and study various kinds of chromosomal translocations

-Theoretically learned about the anatomy and physiology of skin burns, levels of burns, precautions, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation relating to burns. -Hands-on Training on the process of skin collection from cadavers, storage of the skin, and its use for patients with burns as skin grafts. -Observed the process of production of artificial skin, development of fibroblasts, keratinocytes, melanocytes, and Mesenchymal stem cells.
