As Optical Coating Engineer- Technical commissioning of the ELT coating plants at the Paranal observatory- Supervision and training of technical staff for the routine operation of the ELT plants- Responsible for the Maintenance in Condition of Operations (MCO) of the equipment during its lifecycle- Support the ELT programme in the procurement of the 5m coater and additional coating-related equipment from the stage of defining technical specifications until acceptance testing with the manufacturers- Support to the Paranal coating plants (three PVD plants of 1m, 4.5m and 9m diameter) and processes to deposit single layer and multilayer coatings (Al, Au, protected Ag, dielectric...) on various types of optics- Work with simulation tools to characterize and optimize coatings- Responsible for the development of a novel system to conduct in-situ cleaning for the main mirror of the ELTAs ELT M1 AIV Workflow Manager- Responsible for the outfitting of the optical metrology lab and the clean rooms in the technical building- Responsible for managing the assets during the transfer to operations, liaising with the different departments at the Paranal observatory- Periodic report of progress to the programme management- Responsible for the training of the new staff working in all M1 AIV activities- Responsible for the implementation of lean manufacturing strategies in the AIV and coating processes related to ELT and VLT coating

- Complete the upgrade tasks to enable the VISTA coater to do reactive magnetron sputtering, specifically protected Ag reflective coatings.- Perform all the functional tests to demonstrate that the coater is operational- Prepare the documentation for a Test and Qualification Plan for a protected-silver coating for applications like the several mirrors of the VLTI trains and a demonstration for the E-ELT Project- Perform the testing campaign, adjust coating parameters to reach specifications- Contact external laboratories in Chile and outside to conduct the characterisation of the thin film, its corrosion properties and the process.- Prepare regular progress reports and a final Qualification report for the selected silver stack.
