As the UNDP focal point for Sri Lanka's Eastern province, I led the Governance and Local Economic Development programs at the regional level. Serving as the coordination focal point for UNDP initiatives at the district level, I represented the program in various forums and mechanisms requiring agency focal points, while also cultivating partnerships with government and external stakeholders in alignment with UNDP management guidelines. Responsibilities included overseeing the regional-level implementation of UNDP programs, ensuring the achievement of program outcomes through effective project portfolio management in line with provided strategies and work plans from the Programme Implementation Unit. I held organizational responsibility for monitoring field office activities, coordinating shared resources and services, and aligning operational procedures and systems in accordance with UNDP management directives. Additionally, I directly supervised district-based Field Project Specialists in the region and monitored the performance of UNDP staff to achieve program objectives outlined in the log frame.

This involves:Enhancing mechanisms for district-level early recovery and recovery coordination.Facilitating the exchange and coordination of information on early recovery and long-term development initiatives at intra-district, inter-district, and district-national levels within the Eastern province.Meeting mapping requirements for humanitarian efforts and government authorities in the district. This includes creating thematic mapping products such as Internally Displaced Peoples locations, Disaster Management (flood, Tsunami), Returnees trends and locations, and Who Does What Where mapping. Geographic mapping products comprise administrative maps for government use, demographic maps, and land use maps.Managing databases to effectively inventory datasets supporting humanitarian operators and government officials in their tasks, particularly in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) areas and resettled regions of the North East.
