Rehabilitation leaders have looked toward robotic technology to help reduce costs, quantify treatment, and unload the physical burden to therapists. One of the aims of rehabilitation after stroke is to improve the walking function. Several lower-extremity rehabilitation machines have been developed recently to help retrain gait during walking. Robotic gait trainers move the legs through repetitive, natural motions imitating gait. Exercise machines are important in rehabilitation and physical therapy. Gravity balancing makes these exercise machines accessible to patients with low muscle abilities. It has been observed that the contribution to the joint torques by the gravitational torque is dominant. On the basis of this result, a gravity balanced assistive device is proposed for spinal cord injury and paraplegic patients. Objective:-Designing mechanisms to gravity balance 2 and 3 DOF manipulators, four bar linkage.-Analyzing the Theo Jansen mechanism.-Tracking the center of mass and end effector trajectory of a single DOF gait trainer model based on the Jansen mechanism.-Finding a way to gravity balance the SDOF gait trainer model.
