I was assigned to the technical services team as a power plant engineer where I primarily worked on technical support for aircraft auxiliary power units, under ATA 49, and engine-related issues, under ATA 70-80. I was tasked with preparing and issuing required technical documents in accordance with approved procedures and regulatory requirements. I also regularly liaised with manufacturers, suppliers, and aviation authorities on behalf of AirAsia to facilitate the analysis of engineering issues. I evaluated airworthiness data under the supervision of the Senior Technical Services Engineer and provided sentencing recommendations to the Modification Evaluation Committee for approval.I also was attached to the maintenance team where I managed the APU and engine condition monitoring programme to maintain component reliability. The responsibility of ensuring the off-wing maintenance programme complied with regulatory requirements was also tasked with me under the supervision of the Senior Technical Services Engineer. During my internship, I managed to join a team selected to undertake a development study to improve aircraft dispatch reliability and provided recommendations to the Maintenance Review Board based on the study.
