I am an Energy Engineer with extensive expertise in project management and at working in international and diverse environments. My impactful career with Ericsson and Amazon inspired me to pursue a specialization in Sustainable Energy for my Master's. With this, I aspire to significantly impact society by taking on roles in the energy sector, which is undergoing a dynamic transition.     With the push for increasing the renewable share in power production and including more energy storagedevices getting more assertive, all the industrial sectors are exploring how alternative power pathways can be implemented along with the existing systems. Digitalization is expected to overgrow in the coming years. Data centers are crucial infrastructure to support booming digitalization. Hence to support the rising power demands of the data centers, the alternate power paths comprising on-site renewables, use of green H2, and batteries for energy storage need to be investigated in techno-economic terms. This research analyses the techno-economic feasibility of a PV-H2-battery system as a secondary power system for a data center in Luleå. The simulations, optimizations, and sensitivity analysis were done using Homer Pro. A comparative study to determine the changes in system feasibility was done for a second chosen market, Germany. It was observed that the system was infeasible for an electricity market like that in Luleå. However, the system in consideration with a PV-H2-Battery is feasible for a market like Germany with a comparable NPV to that of just a grid-connected system. The cost of batteries, and the scale and cost of H2 module components were identified as the crucial factors affecting the system feasibility and LCOE.

    Europe is currently experiencing an unprecedented energy crisis. Questions about energy security, supply chain resiliency, and fuel dependency are gaining in relevance. This puts a spotlight on Industrial Symbiosis (IS): a concept that can potentially mitigate the risks that are being introduced due to an increase in energy demand, the climate crisis, and geopolitical instability. CirIn is a project by EIT InnoEnergy students in collaboration with ABB and the municipality of Boden. The project aims to design an IS network around the industrial park BODENXT, carried out via: a) creating a modelling tool for the techno-economic assessment of the IS network, and b) proposing a business model for industrial symbiosis facilitation. A thorough literature review around IS, regulations, and existing projects forms the basis of this report. Building on this, a modelling framework is proposed: solving the network as a constrained optimization problem via the OSeMOSYS library for techno-economic optimization. KPIs were developed to measure the performance of the network and to serve as crucial inputs to the financial aspects of the business model. Optimisation results yield overall annual cost savings of 126 MEUR that can be realised with an initial investment of 185 MEUR into the industrial connections. KPIs on sustainability and circularity show further encouraging results. To accompany the optimization with suggestions on which industries to add in the future, an AI-based recommender pipeline is proposed. A business model is proposed around the IS facilitator, a stakeholder role which could potentially be interesting for ABB. The business model is then applied to the case of Boden and turned into a concrete implementation plan. While the results come from a specific use-case, generalised learnings are presented which may be of use for industrial symbiosis projects in different locations.
