As a service assistant, my main duties are to make sure that everywhere is properly filled and working on the checkout and self-checkout to help the customers. When filling up the shelves, I must make sure that the short shelf-life products are rotated so that the old stocks get used first.I must also check the dates of the shelf-life items regularly and reduce the prices of those which are soon to be expired to encourage the sales of the products before they go bad. Finally, I usually assist to customer queries while on the shop floor to help them with their shopping. When doing so, I often go the extra mile to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.

As a Purchasing and Logistics Coordinator, I liaised with the clients by email or by phone to take their queries, which I sourced locally or overseas. I then made my proposals to them until the clients were satisfied and we had a deal. I was then responsible to make sure the order reaches the warehouse of the clients on time. I often proposed new items which came on the market to the clients which might be interested in them.On a weekly basis, I had meetings with my manager where I updated her about the status of our activities and potential future deals. Also, I had to prepare sales documents such as Purchase order, Pro forma invoice, Invoice and Delivery note using SAP and ensure proper filing of the documents so that they can easily be found when needed.Some of the challenges I faced were to meet short deadlines or negotiating with the suppliers to get better deals so that the client is fully satisfied. In case of urgent orders, we usually had to switch to faster means of transport, namely courier transportation services like DHL instead of air or sea transportation.

Despite being a small-scale family business, I gained valuable experience working as a site manager. Firstly, I had the responsibility to take the attendance of the workers daily. Then, I had to plan the works beforehand and distributing the workload properly among the workers and ensuring smooth operation on site. I adopted this principle to make sure that everything goes as planned and that later the project is completed before the deadline.I had to constantly check our stock of construction materials or equipment used. Whenever it was required, I had to order the things needed and arrange for transportation to the site. Finally, when the clients made their regular site visits, I had to give them updates of our progress and whenever they were not satisfied or wanted to make minor changes, I made sure that these were dealt with ASAP. Some of the challenges we regularly met were fast deadlines, lack of staff or bad weather. When we had to complete a work fast or in case of a lack of staff, I provided a helping hand which made the workers quite motivated to complete the tasks. In case of bad weather, I had to improvise later to make sure that we are not behind schedule.
