I have been passionate about programming since I was 11, always craving to learn new skills. Badgering my dad for months to buy the TI Extended BASIC cartridge for my TI-99/4A was the beginning of a long and addictive foray into computers, programming, and all-around geekiness.I am a fast learner, not afraid of jumping mind wide open into any unknown language, framework or OS and ingest every bit of information there is. To me, knowing how is not enough: I need to understand why. This gives me great insight into the languages and frameworks I choose to use.I am perfectionist by nature and take pride in work well done. I also like to ship products, which puts me in the pragmatic subspecies of perfectionists. As a team leader, I believe that fluid communication is the basis of any functional team and project. I deeply care that every team member is on the same page and knows what part they are playing in the project. I also strongly believe that mutual respect is essential for a team to be strong.I am still passionate about my craft after doing it professionally for 20 years, and I don't see an end to that enthusiasm as long as I keep facing interesting challenges.
Listed skills include .Net, Objective C, Wpf, C++, and 22 others.

In 2006, while tidying up my iTunes music library, I wanted to add album art to all my digital albums. Not wanting to do it manually (I had over 200 albums back then) and not happy with the poor quality of the existing software available to automate this task, I decided to write my own.It was working well, and I decided to put it out on the web as donation-ware in case other people want to use it. Lifehacker picked it up [1] and downloads soared. Seeing a business opportunity, I founded Polkapps to sell the application. It has been a huge success for a one-man shop, a welcome additional revenue, and a great adventure in managing a software business, from accounting to customer support.TuneSleeve has been discontinued in 2012, as demand was growing weaker and revenues were not covering maintenance costs. In 2008, when Apple announced the iOS SDK, I jumped in and took a 4-day weekend to write a small application to help split restaurant bills with friends. The resulting application, DutchTab, was submitted to Apple in time to be among the first batch of apps available when the App Store first opened.DutchTab has been discontinued in 2010, when it was a very tiny speck in a growing store. It was a great learning experience, making me switch from Windows/.NET to iOS/Cocoa/Objective-C development and fall in love with it.Today, even though Polkapps doesn't have any products on the market, it still lives. I plan to continue exploring new ventures under its umbrella as time permits.[1] http://lifehacker.com/219304/download-of-the-day-tunesleeve-windows
