Responsible for development and deployment of purchasing policies and –strategy and a purchase spend of approx. EUR 200 million / yr in raw materials (metals, rare-earth oxides, chemicals) and non-product related (equipment, spare-parts, etc.). Installed programs for supplier quality improvement (zero-defect), contract management and performance reporting being used by all factories involved. Achieved agreement on long-term purchasing and sourcing strategies with in- and external stakeholders (including main customers). Improved the quality of the purchasing staff (20 persons), located in 8 factories in The Netherlands, Belgium and Poland, by developing and executing an agreed succession plan.

As global commodity team leader responsible for initial and strategic purchasing for lamp-caps with a purchase value of approx. EUR 50 million / yr. Achieved approx. EUR 2 million per year purchasing savings by developing 2 Chinese suppliers up to the required quality and logistic levels. Developed & successfully implemented outsourcing strategy for lamp-caps leading to controlled restructuring of internal lamp-caps factory in Middelburg, The Netherlands.

Responsible for defining and implementing standard purchasing processes in 13 Lamps factories, located in The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Poland. Installed lead-buyer approach for all main article groups, leading to significant efficiency improvement and organisational cost reduction for the factories involved.

Responsible for initial and strategic purchasing for electro-mechanical components with a purchase value of approx. EUR 25 million / yr. Managed global supplier base with suppliers located mainly in Europe, China, South Korea and Japan. Lead 2 supplier-partner teams, with representatives from development, engineering, logistics and quality, from both Philips and each supplier partner. Achieved significant breakthroughs in cost-and technology (e.g. product dimensions) by jointly developed components with the partner-suppliers. Developed global sourcing strategy for electro-mechanical components, involving factories in The Netherlands, Poland, Mexico and China. Extended supplier partner relation globally, and thereby getting the partner supplier to open manufacturing operations in Mexico and China.

Coordinated development of a European sourcing strategy for control gear for High Intensity Discharge lamps. Participated in supplier selection process, including performing audits and participating in team negotiations. Achieved agreement on sourcing strategy with all 8 factories involved, located in France, Spain, UK, The Netherlands, Germany and Finland.

Project leader several process development & improvement projects for tungsten wire drawing and filament coiling. Developed and implemented an off-line measurement system for resistance wire (car windshield heating). Worked closely together with process operators and production staff to improve product quality, production output and yield, which helped gaining a 3-year supply contract with an automotive customer.
