R-Square develops cross-platform software for asset managment (Windows, Linux, Solaris). The whole system consists of several micro-services communicating via TCP/IP. All data is stored in a database (developed in-house) which is highly optimized for the application and it's access patterns. For the UI, QT is used.I started as an intern at R-Square, continued working there parallel to vocational school, and joined as a full time employee afterwards. My tasks there included: • Design and implementation of C++ classes (base library / database / networking / UI (QT)) • Development of tools for configuration management, build system, development toolchain (PERL, C++, make, BASH) • Design, implementation and administration of company intranet (knowledge base, document store, project planning tool) using PHP and MySQL • Porting the software from Linux to Solaris • Creating a windows installer and a centralized update mechanism for the software • Implementing an interface to connect the software to a legacy system from the 1980s (bidirectional) • Extending the internal report generation language (flex/yacc) and creating new reports • System administration (Linux, Solaris)
