Lecture exchange students from North America in East African Politics – Since Independence. I guide and supervise students, address concerns, and offer constructive feedback. I facilitate guest lecture sessions and discussions engaging with government officials.The East African Politics – Since Independence course focuses on a general discussion of the politics of East African countries (e.g., Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, DRC, South Sudan, Somalia). To put East Africa into its context, class discussions refer to Africa and sub-Saharan Africa as a whole. The experiences of EA countries have been shaped by their pre-colonial, colonial, and post-colonial political, social, and economic histories, including decades of economic and political turmoil during both colonial and independence eras. It examines the region’s contemporary political situation, events, and developments within this historical framework. Discussions focus broadly on issues such as political insecurity, political change, electoral processes, economic development, Africa’s relation with the international political systems, foreign aid, and development. The course addresses several pertinent questions. Why are most African countries underdeveloped, even with the abundance of natural resources? Why is Africa’s development dependent on international aid? Is Africa the problem and solution to its own development? What explains the persistence of civil wars or political instability in most African Countries? Can Africa beat the space of time and current technological advancements to effectively compete with the West? It draws attention to regional bodies like the East African Community (EAC), the African Union (AU), and the Inter-Governmental Agency for Development (IGAD). Completion of this course will enable learners to strategically identify and understand Africa’s challenges and opportunities and consider possible solutions to Africa’s problems.

Capacity Building for Women and Youth Land Rights:Established the Women For Peace Initiative (WPI) to empower women's involvement in peace, security, and violent extremism mitigation.Trained 50+ women leaders from Koro and Bungatira Sub-counties in Gulu District.Reached over 200 women groups in Koro and Bungatira Sub-counties.Health Learning for the Girl Child:Led the project focused on educating girls about sexual health and their rights, including topics related to fistula.Soft Skills Empowerment Clubs (SOSE Clubs):Managed a program engaging with 1000+ youth in 11 high schools across Gulu District, northern Uganda.Youth Mentorship:Provided mentorship to 320+ young change-makers in 11 secondary schools in Gulu and Amuru Districts, focusing on leadership, public speaking, interview techniques, networking, and CV writing.Youth Club Management:Collaborated with a team to maintain relationships with 300+ youth member clubs and participated in the monitoring and evaluation of activities in 11 secondary schools involved in the SOSE Club program.

Conducted a qualitative analysis and rectified inconsistencies within the DFID Sudan household survey data pertaining to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) issues across regions including North, South, and West Darfur, North and South Kordofan, and Blue Nile. This process significantly enhanced my capacity to effectively coordinate and oversee various projects.Effectively expanded the discourse surrounding FGM/C, incorporating discussions on gender and the promotion of equal participation by both women and men in addressing sexuality-related matters. Collaborated closely with women academics and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Sudan and across the global landscape.Contributed to the research and report composition for a collaborative project between DFID and the World Bank. The report, titled "Data-Driven Decision Making in Fragile States: Evidence from Sudan," was published as part of the Directions in Development series in Washington, DC, United States, in June 2017. This report aimed to provide comprehensive insights into Female Genital Mutilation, thus fostering a deeper understanding of this issue.

This comprehensive analysis specifically delved into the Uganda People's Defense Forces' (UPDF) role within South Sudan, Somalia, and the Central African Republic (CAR).Conducted in-depth background research in collaboration with the Somalia Analyst, focusing on peace and security dynamics in Somalia, with a specific emphasis on understanding the factors leading to the involvement of women in violent extremist groups.Consistently produced weekly security analysis reports, disseminating critical insights on the prevailing security situations within Uganda and South Sudan. These reports were submitted to both the Horn of Africa project team and the Africa Program Director.Conducted thorough investigations and authored reports highlighting incidents of sexual violence that occurred during the 2013 land disputes between the Bakonzo and Bamba tribes in Western Uganda.Performed comprehensive reviews of reports and conducted hands-on analysis of intricate security matters pertaining to Uganda's military, the Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF), in relation to its deployment and operational involvement in South Sudan, Somalia, and the Central African Republic (CAR).
