As an Industry Mentor in the Penn Center for Innovation’s iCorps program, I have worked with University of Pennsylvania undergraduates, healthcare professionals, technology administrators, entrepreneurs, and inventors in the areas of mobile health, educational technology, and home health monitoring for the last several years. Through these experiences, I have become familiar with the product iteration and validation of startup companies. The first team of UPenn undergraduates I mentored was runner up in Comcast’s Machine Q Challenge. This team developed a clean water monitoring system using LoRWAN Internet of Things communication. Additionally in my role as a mentor in the ICorps Program, I guided the discovery phase for two mobile device companies. One of these companies, envoyatHome, selected me in 2017 as Director of Behavioral Health to assist in the verification of the effectiveness of their home monitoring tool for family caregivers and home care agencies.I am helping to build solutions for enhanced quality of life for persons with dementia living at home. I am engaged in developing valid proxy measures that are brief and cost-effective for use in outcomes research.
