Rudy Rasmus is pastor emeritus, author, and a humanitarian with a passion for outreach to the world’s most challenged communities. Thanks to generous support from collaborations with local and national government agencies and significant donations over the years from Tina, Beyoncé, and Solange Knowles, Pastor Rudy has completed over $90million in housing development projects for the previously unhoused in Downtown Houston. The Temenos CDC portfolio includes the Knowles-Temenos Apartments, a Single Room Occupancy development, the Temenos II Apartments both designed to provide permanent housing for formerly unhoused individuals, with 95unit, Rasmus Temenos Place Apartments recently completed on the campus. Pastor Rudy co-founded the Bread of Life, Inc. (a not for profit corporation) in December of 1992 with his wife Juanita Rasmus and began serving 500 meals per day to the homeless in the sanctuary at St. John’s. Years later the Bread of Life has changed the landscape of Downtown Houston providing an array of services to families in peril and homeless individuals. The project also distributes tons of Proctor and Gamble products and food supplies monthly to suffering families with supply partner, Matthew 25 Ministries. St. John’s has been on the front line of the effort to eradicate HIV/AIDS since 1992 providing HIV/AIDS testing to churchgoers on Sundays through the innovative “Get Tested Project” and today provides needed rental and case management support monthly to hundreds of people impacted by HIV/AIDS. With a focus on social impact investing, the Bread of Life owns and operates the Amazing KMAZ 102.5fm radio station. Rudy and Juanita have been married for 38 years and are the proud parents of two outstanding daughters, a two phenomenal Son-in-Laws, and two amazing grandkids.
