As the lead I not only repaired vehicles and equipment I supervise four Heavy Equipment Mechanics on my shift, prioritize work in accordance with Airport directives, Assigned work to the mechanics, and insured the work is done properly and in a timely fashion. I also coordinated our maintenance efforts with the Equipment Maintenance Foreman and 2 other maintenance shifts and their Leads. I make sure repair parts were ordered and followed up on the orders with the parts department. The fleet consisted of runway snow removal equipment, Road Graders, Dozers, Dump Trucks, sanders, Tractors and trailers, front end loaders and 150 KW to 750 KW Diesel powered backup generators. ARFF Fire trucks and an assortment of other ground support equipment to support Airport operations. I performed both preventive and technical inspections of vehicles and major components to make sure equipment is road worthy. I rebuilt diesel engines such as Cummins, Komatsu, Detroit, GM 6.5 liter Diesels engines. I can also troubleshoot the newer electronic controlled diesel engines utilizing a prolink 9000 scanner. Other tasks I have completed are rebuilding transmissions, hydraulic pumps and hydraulic systems; control valves and made up new high-pressure hydraulic hoses. I have also rebuilt the back up generator engines and upgraded the engine governors and controls systems from old hydraulic governors to newer Electronic governors. I have also replace all components of Air and hydraulic brake system to include the foundation brake system.
