Currently: I have been the beneficiary of several unanticipated benefits of returning to “part time” work after my brief retirement of 16 months…First, the EUA of COVID-19 vaccine in late 2020 and my status as a health care worker made it possible for me to be vaccinated earlier than would have been otherwise possible. This sparked the realization that a broad collaboration of both health care professionals (I was motivated to help and have done so since the clinic in mid December of 2020 when I received my first dose of vaccine) and volunteers would be necessary as these early clinics evolved into a finely tuned enterprise in Spectrum Health Lakeland’s current iteration. Secondly, I now have a renewed sense of gratification as the distinction between needing to work and wanting to be part of a higher purpose have become clear to me. I am truly inspired by the camaraderie that exists not only among team members, but also among our team and members of the community at our vaccine clinics. I see the same energy as I interact with the awesome team at out ambulatory infusion center, the Marie Yeager Cancer Center.Previously: Decentralized Clinical Pharmacist with extensive experience in pharmacokinetic dosing and dosing of unfractionated Heparin, low molecular weight heparins, warfarin, and direct thrombin inhibitors. In May of 2007, made successful presentation as guest of P&T committee that resulted in streamlining our insulin and insulin analog formulary, considerable savings, and greatly improved patient safety.Interest in teamwork across disciplines to improve patient care.Specialties: Anticoagulation therapy and management, diabetes therapy and management, use of hospital information systems to improve patient safety.
