I've setup and maintained a self-hosted Git server to control our code. Ported and refactored legacy code running on very old equipment to new hardware. These changes usually require a complete over-haul of the code or even changing the language or runtime it's working on. Challenges on these projects have come from multiple angles, such as no comments in previous code, equipment failed and old code is missing or corrupt, and other obstacles to over come.Spec'ing, ordering, and installing new hardware to get the platforms off the ground is another responsibility I carry out day to day. To succeed in this roll you need an entire hat rack to hold all the hats necessary to keep things moving smoothly. Combining my experience with computers and networking with my passion for coding I've pushed to develop remote tools during the Covid-19 pandemic to allow for a more flexible work environment. This has come in the forms of networking all of our lab equipment, setting up and administering databases, configuring remote connections both internally and VPN specific. As well as building python based front ends to facilitate a quick and easy solution for the end users. My personal goal in this role is to expand use of platforms and languages used. Developing dashboard UI's to make both management and workers lives easier and more in sync, while maintaining data server side to be analyzed to better forecast where to go next. Show less

My time as a tech I found myself going back to old habits like tweaking process flow, building work instructions, and coding tools to make the job more efficient. I was responsible for testing automotive parts, maintaining test equipment, and verifying calibration of equipment. I couldn't seem to help but get involved in the improvement process for how our testing worked and how to better facilitate it.
