35+ years in the industry with most of that in construction and offshore integration and start-up. My experience includes deepwater FPSO, TLPs, CGSs and conventional SPJ with significant topsides such as Nelson, Conoco Hutton, Beryl ‘B’ and Malampaya (CGS with floatover topsides), Bonga FPSO. I have carried out offshore commissioning and start-up planning on several projects. On two occasions I was brought into overseas construction yards to improve production and productivity. Main strengths are in Construction, integration & Commissioning deepwater facilities.     I am responsible for reviewing projects in execution with the purpose of understanding the “Actual Status” of the project and what issues that currently prevail that are contributing to inability to meet Project budget or Schedule. Develop a view of the key risks to the FID budget and schedule; analyse & update remaining UAP and schedule contingency. Understand in particular the Brown field scope and if the Operator has planned appropriately. Review forward plans for completion of Engineering, Fabrication / Construction, MC/Commissioning/Start-up/First Production. Identify potential items for KFA consideration. Identify any new or unknown execution risks and mitigation recommendations. Identify gaps in operators reporting with recommended closure steps. Assess capability of operator’s project services organization/support. Finaly to attempt to influence the Operator or Project team to adopt proposed mitigations in order to recover schedule, prevent further slip and avoid subsequent pressure on budget.

    I was responsible for planning a Hook-up & completions strategic plan from the onshore base to achieve earliest First Oil with minimum systems completed. This involved visiting the FPSO for co-ordination meetings and implementing forward plans. The carry over hours along with the offshore scope presented considerable challenges while trying to narrow the focus of the construction, Hook-up and Commissioning supervision. This strategy was successful in accelerating first oil and gas export.Until the offshore phase I was responsible for planning and cost control on Bonga Topsides Facilities; for design, construction and integration (23,000T). This involved analyzing Design Engineering & Procurement, Construction, Integration and Commissioning schedules proving correct logic drivers and appropriate workflow based on the Contracted scope of work. Monitoring progress, trending performance and productivity through the phases of design, procurement, Construction, Integration, Hook-up & commissioning. Additionally monitoring expenditure of budgets, forecasting commitments, trending variations and re-evaluating the Prime Scope Estimate. I also contributed to a separate process, compiling data for benchmarking; design, fabrication and commissioning data to help refine estimating for future project evaluation.During the tendering phase, was a member of the technical evaluation team reviewing and grading invitations to tender for the EPCIC contract for the Bonga FPSO.Other responsibilities include preparing Key Performance indicators for reporting the status of key drivers that will determine the outcome of the Project. Maintaining, trending and reporting status of the budget for the FEED and bid review team prior to Contract award. Running “Risk analysis” on selected scenario’s, forecasting Budget, CAPEX exposure, Commitments etc and auditing subcontractors control systems & procedures.

These were the Scottish/Northern Ireland Gas Pipeline and a Chemical Processing Plant at Morpeth in Northumbria, making animal feeds through design into construction and commissioning. The main focus of this position was to prepare and implement appropriate working procedures for Planning, Cost control, Procurement and design change control. Seconded to join the Contract Services Project at Esso’s (Exxon) Fawley Refinery. The Contract Services Project is to ensure all specialist resources and equipment are provided in a timely manner to support shutdowns, turnarounds and routine works during the coming three years. A review of existing contracts was taken in order to understand the current situation and develop a Contracting plan to refine an approved Vendors list and to rationalize the number of Vendors and sub-contractors. The purpose here was to reduce expenditure but maintain the smooth running of the refinery. At the end of one year we had saved some £50,000,000 in costs to the refinery from rationalization of contracts and re-negotiation of rates.
