My professional career spanned over 46 years in the fields of social services, primarily in Santa Barbara County. During that time, I worked in public and non- profit organizations in the fields of at-risk adolescent youth, crisis intervention, and older adult supportive services. For 14 years I served as the initial Executive Director of First 5 Santa Barbara County overseeing community planning, funding of comprehensive services focused on early childhood, and the development of an integrated system of results-based evaluation for public and non-profit organizations funded by First 5. Additionally, I worked at the State level in the development of evaluation systems involving 58 counties for the First 5 Initiative (California Children and Families Act). In these efforts I worked closely with foundations that funded and worked toward integrated strategies directed to impact and results.Now retired, I have focused my efforts on supporting our community’s needs for safe, affordable housing for a variety of populations. I serve on the Housing Authority Commission for the City of Santa Barbara, and also serve as Chair for Transition House Board, and Chair of Grace Housing, Inc. Board. I am also involved in the coordination and planning for better systems of care and support for persons who have been without homes for extended periods of time.

Coordination of community education on older adult issues, developed and coordinated a Guest Weekend Respite Program for senior and handicapped individuals, consultation and support on transitional living for individuals and families.
