CART was the largest, most comprehensive high school reform initiative in the United States when it opened in the fall of 2000. CART has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as an exemplary program; received the California Golden Bell Award. The James Irvine Foundation published, "A Model for Success:CART's Linked Learning Program Increases College Success"-The seven-year study found that participation in CART’s Linked Learning approach increased the college entrance rate by 11 percentage points — 71 percent for CART students compared with 60 percent for a demographically similar group of non-CART students

I was responsible for operations of all ETC's educational products and services throughout the U.S. The company specialized in distance education, professional development, and the design of wide and local area networks for school districts.

Responsibility for design and implementation of Cable in the Classroom initiative which included: wiring over 26,000 schools, creating first database of educators using cable resources, design and construction of two, state-of-the-art educator training centers in Denver and Washington, D.C.; design and implementation of 11 showcase/model schools located in a cross section of the country both demographically and geographically- These schools featured cutting edge technology pioneered by the cable industry including: video on demand, fiber optic backbone rings, real-time video connection between school and home and the first real-time professional development resources delivered nationally on a monthly basis.

Carrollton, Ga

Taught English in grades 9-12; served as Assistant Principal and Principal of Carrollton High School. During my tenure as principal, I wrote over 150 grants. Those funded included IBM's largest grant to date for a rural school district; Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI)- grant included local and wide area networks allowing all classrooms to access unprecedented voice, data and video resources; community connections included classroom connections between educators in training at West Georgia College and Master teachers at Carrollton High School; the first video home-to-school connections in the southeast; and connections to other healthcare and government agencies. Carrollton High School was designated as National School of Excellence in 1984.
