In a Learning Specialist capacity, I work with a group of students who benefit from 1:1 time during the school week on diagnosed issues such as EF, ADHD, memory, and language processing. I guide them towards strengthening academic and life skills which help them organize, prioritize, and stay on track during the academic year.

As the Writing Studies Chair at York Prep, a high school for students with learning differences, I lead a team of six teachers in implementing a robust and spiraling writing curriculum for grades 6-12. I created the department and based the curriculum on Hochman's Writing Revolution, a proven method for teaching expository writing skills. I also coach, mentor, and evaluate my team members and liaise with the administration on benchmarks and expectations.In addition to my leadership role, I am a classroom teacher and a learning specialist with over 11 years of experience. I teach English to students who have language-based learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, ADHD, and anxiety. In my Learning Specialist role, I work one-on-one with high school students to help them develop executive function, memory, and organization skills, as well as boost their writing and essay skills. I am passionate about empowering my students to overcome their challenges and achieve their academic and personal goals. For younger students, I have used the PAF program, an Orton-Gillingham-based, multi-sensory reading intervention. I hold a MSEd from City University of New York, Hunter College, and a NYS public school teacher certificate. My CELTA certificate in English language instruction from Cambridge University deepens my profilea

Gateway has a special needs population and teachers work to develop the skills and strategies necessary to succeed in future mainstream settings. As a head teacher, my responsibilities included developing and delivering content, understanding students based on IEPs and Psychological Evaluations, writing IEPs and attending IEP meetings, implementing behavior plans with logical consequences, and interfacing with school psychologists and administration daily.As a head teacher, I delivered spelling, reading and writing instruction for struggling 5th and 6th grade students, grouped in ability based cohorts. Reading instruction was guided by PAF (an O.G. based program)which remediates and prevents academic failure with a spiralling, multi-sensory program. Writing instruction followed Dr. Hochman's Basic Writing Skills, which helps struggling students improve their writing and become better readers and speakers.Additionally, I designed and delivered 5th grade science content to ability based cohorts. Identified as a STEM program, the focus was on diagram and model making and hands on discovery. Program incorporated Cornell note-taking, Hochman's Basic Writing Skills and study skills.

Freelance Co-Design Direction for 145 elementary social studies books. Produced over the course of 6 months with a staggered, tight deadline. Directed eight offsite designers to ensure quality and design consistency of the project.

Art Director for an educational publisher. Projects were positioned to invigorate market interest in an established educational brand. Developed concepts and directed design with freelancers on related projects to maintain the consistency of the project.

Creative direction of two educational web sites, alfy.com and cleverisland.com. Responsible for brand development and direct-marketing materials and efforts. Managed a department of 25 artists, overseeing application design, flash animation, interactivity, layout and overall site design. Created and maintained a style guide.
