Hey there! My name is Rafael Patarra, and I'm a PhD student at Systasy Bioscience and LMU. My main area of research interest lies in understanding the intricate pathological pathways behind Alzheimer's Disease (AD).I've had the privilege of pursuing my academic journey at two distinguished universities and conducting research in five different institutes, spanning both academia and industry. This journey has led me to relocate four times across different cities and live in three different countries, allowing me to embrace the dynamism of the scientific world.During my MSc thesis at Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson, I spent 10 months working with targeted protein degradation techniques for AD. Currently, I am integrating the IDPro Doctoral Network, funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions. The objective of this project is to target intrinsically disordered proteins, which are at the root of several diseases, including AD. My role involves combining advanced barcoding technologies with a 3D iPSC AD model to unveil new pathological pathways and potential targets.
