I currently serve as the Director of Security at Asbury Church in Tulsa. Before this role, I spent 24 years as a Tulsa Police Officer, where I held various positions including K-9 Officer, Sex Crimes Supervisor, Planning and Research Supervisor, Community Education Coordinator, and Patrol Supervisor. I am also a volunteer chaplain for the Tulsa Police and Fire Departments.Education has been a significant focus in my retirement. I earned my Ph.D. in Occupational Education from Oklahoma State University, a Master’s Degree in Management from Southern Nazarene University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Communication from O.S.U. I now teach as an adjunct professor at Belhaven University, Oklahoma Wesleyan University, and the University of Oklahoma, covering subjects in the graduate and undergraduate schools of criminal justice and business.In addition to teaching, I work with a ministry called Your One Degree. We help individuals and couples discover their purpose in life, a rewarding ministry that has taken me around the world several times.

My titles were Patrol Sergeant, Public Education Coordinator, Planning and Research Sergeant, Sex Crimes Unit Sergeant, and Administrative Sergeant for Detective Division.All of my roles required the use of effective communication skills, problem solving, and the ability to critically evaluate tactical situations. At times I functioned as the external face of the department, educating the public regarding operations and situations involving the department. In several of my positions I served as an Instructor at the Police Academy, teaching and training new and returning officers in a variety of subject areas. Some of my specific duties included directing the daily functions of the patrol, including anything from homicide investigations to traffic citations. As Planning and Research Sergeant I developed and implemented policies, research projects, and tactical and operational guidelines, as well as supervising the Crime Trend Analysis Group, the Community Education Unit, and Resource Center. I have also served as the Grant Coordinator, and managed the training, equipment, and budget for the Detective Division.
