Pivate Sector Engagement Specialist

Key responsibilities: Led the PSE workstream (Task 2) with two main activities: 1. Conduct a private sector landscape assessment and wrote the report 2. Develop private sector engagement activities and/or partnerships for SUFIA’s two partners: Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) and the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF). In addition, she supported the organizational capacity assessment activities for both partner organization, providing technical expertise to conduct the assessments relating to organizational sustainability, communication skills and products, partnership development, and private sector engagement. Key accomplishments: - Conducted a Private Sector Landscape Assessment and developed the report for USAID and key stakeholders in the fisheries sector in Southeast Asia and Pacific region. The 100+ page report detailed the research scope, methodology, key private sector and multi-stakeholder initiatives, previous stakeholder survey findings, key learnings, and recommendations. In the Annexes of the report, SUFIA LCD highlighted the situational context of the fisheries sector and the issue of IUU fishing and climate change mitigation, a detailed analysis of private sector-led or multi-stakeholder fishery initiatives, and country profiles for the 14 Southeast Asia and Pacific Island countries that make up the members of CTI-CFF and SEAFDEC. Based on the respondent’s feedback for this PSLA report, 100% noted that the report’s content was useful and that they would use it in their work and/or improve private sector engagement/partnership development. - Brokering private sector engagement investment and in-kind support (e.g., solar and water pump equipment, two used computers, and testing catch-data software prototype) for SEAFDEC’s project with small-scale fishers to adopt the ecosystems approach to fisheries management in Thailand.
