About Pat Davis

From building better governments to building new economic opportunity, Pat Davis loves building new things and making old ones better again. He is formerly lots of things, including a police officer and community organizer, turned city councilor and lover of new challenges. After chairing the state's task force to legalize cannabis, he started what has become the state's largest cannabis consulting, licensing and services company now supporting public agencies and licensed operators in Texas and New Mexico.He also collects local newspapers in a mission to save local news, one paper at a time.

    Pat Davis served eight years as an elected city councilor for New Mexico's largest city, including serving as president of the city council during the start of the COVID pandemic in 2020 and again in 2023.Representing Albuquerque's UNM, Nob Hill, International District neighborhoods and Mesa del Sol community, Davis helped to pass economic development programs to recruit Netflix, Maxeon, Kairos Power, and Universal Hydrogen to the district - providing economic development and job incentives for the creation of over 3,500 new economy (non-extractive) jobs in the airport and Southeast Albuquerque area.His policy agenda included creating the city's first solar infrastructure program (a $50+ million investment in solar retrofits for public facilities) and co-sponsoring legislation to establish Albuquerque as an Immigrant-Friendly Community, implementing free-fare service for the state's largest transit system, requiring the city to provide paid family leave for city employees and creating a new non-law enforcement response to social service needs. A former police officer, Davis also worked to revise and ultimately redesign the city's independent civilian police oversight program.He also served a member of the Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Water Authority and has served on the boards of the Regional Council of Governments, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and Community Schools Board.
