The Farm to School Education Coordinator plays a key role in facilitating Greater Newark Conservancy’s Farm to School education programs which serve elementary and secondary schools throughout Newark. In this position, I will interface with our Newark public school partners, FoodCorps NJ/NYC team, and FoodCorps service members serving at the Conservancy. I will be able to provide technical assistance and support to schools throughout Newark who are seeking to create and sustain garden programs.

Greater Newark Conservancy - Newark, Nj

• Planned and implemented the Farm to School educational programs including hands-on lessons in the garden and kitchen, taste tests, and school-wide events. • Developed culturally responsive and inclusive lessons for the Farm to School education programs. • Managed all aspects of the garden including seed starting, soil fertility, composting, crop rotation, garden planning and maintenance. • Guided and mentored students in and out of class to model respect for their food and garden, while encouraging positive eating behaviors. • Managed the development of an hydroponics trailer and performed various maintenance tasks including checking water levels, adding nutrients, measuring pH and other data points, and ensuring plants and systems are growing and working well. • Coordinated with faculty and student representatives on a Nutrition Advisory Committee, where we work from the input of students to better the school food and lunch environment.

• Responsible for our marketing development, specifically focusing on social media and emails, including print flyers and programs.• Oversees the graphic design and execution of our marketing material.•Building powerful coalitions and relationships through networking, cold-calling, and community outreach. • Lead membership initiatives to increase awareness and promote our services.
