I worked on solutions to our communities' sustainability challenges. At Exelon, we led efforts to transition to a smarter grid, and I'm certain we can provide the leadership, skills, and resources needed to partner with cities in developing smarter, more sustainable, and more resilient communities. Exelorate Growth provides the vehicle which allows us to build this business with the agility of a startup.

I led a team of engineers and project managers in ComEd's Smart Grid and Innovation group. Our mission was to help our customers and communities become stronger, greener, more connected, and more resilient. We did this by developing new community-focused services and capabilities around innovative smart energy and smart city technologies. We defined new technology applications and service offerings, developed business cases, identified and developed partnership opportunities, and ultimately facilitated business transformation as our initiatives scaled across northern Illinois. Through this team, I led ComEd's Community of the Future initiative, initially focusing our smart city efforts in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago which would serve as a model to be replicated broadly.

Facilitates the development of new ComEd product/service offerings around innovative smart grid technologies. Manages all aspects of the new offering development process including service offering definition, business case development, lab testing and standards definition, field testing/pilot project management, stakeholder socialization, and ultimately business transformation. Establishes strategic plans and drives collaboration across the organization to support the evolution of the utility business.

Renewable Energy Development: Created financial models and led client discussions to promote the development of PV power generation projects. Assisted in marketing the output of landfill gas to energy projects by providing market intelligence to our project team, developing relationships with potential off-takers, and facilitating subsequent stakeholder discussions.Utility Management Consulting: Consulting lead engaged to drive planning and preparation for ComEd's T&D grid modernization programs enabled by the Energy Infrastructure Modernization Act (EIMA). Served as consulting project manager in designing and standing up ComEd's Quality Management function. Designed and led a project to field survey every streetlight in the City of Chicago. The staff we recruited and the technology we built delivered the complete dataset accurately, safely, and in just 4 months time. Energy Efficiency Program Implementation and Evaluation: Designed and executed the Evaluation, Measurement and Verification (EM&V) study relied upon to validate energy savings claimed by an ARRA funded state energy program. Performed commercial energy audits, performed savings analyses, drafted audit reports, and managed client relationships for various audit programs covering portfolios of facilities.

Management consulting professional experienced in power market analysis, asset modeling and valuation, emissions market modeling, energy trading and risk management, and analysis of energy-related legislative proposals.

Asset Modeling and Valuation: Valued power generating assets in accordance with the USPAP. Clearly identified and communicated relationships between market drivers and asset value. Served as lead for PA’s stochastic dispatch optimization model. Analyzed over 50 mid-merit and peaking plants including combustion turbines, combined cycles, and hybrid solar-thermal-gas plants.Energy Market Modeling and Analysis: Conducted research, gathered data, and leveraged modeling tools to project the impact that changes in commodity prices, capital costs, transmission infrastructure, emissions regulations and other market drivers would have on wholesale energy and capacity prices, emission allowance prices, renewable energy credit prices, supply mix and asset performance in various regions of the U.S.Energy Trading and Risk Management Support: Analyzed the risk system and commodity trading portfolio of one of the largest private mid-stream oil and gas companies in the U.S. shortly after trading losses bankrupted the company. Business unit lead and client liaison for the rapid design and implementation of an interim risk reporting system needed in order to satisfy the terms of exit financing.Energy and Environmental Policy and Regulation Studies: Developed an emissions pricing model in order to project market clearing prices for NOx emissions credits under cap-and-trade and other regulatory environments. Analyzed the ‘Green Bank’ concept as a means to overcome financial barriers to large scale renewable energy deployment. Drafted informative memos and technical presentations to support the Coalition for Green Bank steering committee in publicizing the idea amongst industry leaders and political figures.Accounting and Finance Auditing: Managed the audit portion of a litigation support engagement for a mid-size southern utility (energy trading focused).
