♦ Led the move to a new online help authoring system. Researched problems and solutions with the old RoboHelp system and analyzed prospects with other tools. After the group decided on WebWorks, I developed a process for converting source files. Worked with Software Engineering to create context-sensitive help links.♦ Managed production of online help and documentation check-in working with the software build group, including moving all documentation into the content management system. Greatly increased the efficiency of producing online help.♦ Designed and built templates for RoboHelp, WebWorks, and FrameMaker. Maintained templates as tools or designs changed, and migrated changes to writers and source files.♦ Conceived, wrote, and illustrated “Quick Start Guide for ispLEVER Software.” Won Merit award in 2006 STC Technical Communication Competition for Northern California.♦ Replaced the old-fashioned release notes with a “What’s New” help topic and an online knowledge base of known issues. Worked with a team from Marketing, Applications, and the website to implement the change.♦ Assisted with developing a new “Technical Publications Style Guide.”♦ Created a specialized FrameMaker clipart collection.♦ Created “Introduction to ispLEVER Help,” which provided a single page “portal” to all online documentation (help, manuals, tutorial, website) and explained features of the online help. Also explained miscellaneous features of the software such as getting and using automatic updates.♦ Wrote and illustrated all new help for ORCAstra System Bus Control Center.
