Services OfferedI specialize in providing therapy services for ADHD, anxiety, gender and identity struggles, social interaction difficulties, depression, struggles with transitions, behavioral struggles, and issues regarding adjustment to life changes. I work with children (ages 3+), adolescents, adults, and couples. We humans do not exist in a vacuum, and when ever possible and appropriate I encourage involving members of my client’s support network (family or otherwise) in the therapy process to facilitate meaningful and long-lasting change. Theoretical OrientationI view therapy as a journey that I travel with my clients in the process of improving their lives, moving in the direction that they choose. I practice in a client-centered manner, meaning that I will assist clients in identifying their own goals and then help them in reaching these goals. My approach to therapy draws from a number of theoretical orientations, including attachment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solution focused therapy, narrative therapy, exposure therapy, family systems theory, strategies from play therapy, and positive parenting approaches. I provide affirming services to my clients, and my work is strongly influenced by social justice considerations.Education and ExperienceI earned my Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University in Honolulu HI and my Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: Education, Philosophy, and Psychology from the University of Portland in Portland OR. I am licensed in the state of Washington and was previously licensed in the state of Hawaii. Prior to earning my Master's Degree, I was in the Air Force. While completing my degree, I worked with children and adolescents - and their families - on the autism spectrum. In my internship I had the opportunity to spend a year working with individuals diagnosed with HIV or AIDS. I have worked in various settings since obtaining my degree, including working in schools, on military bases (with adults and with children) both in the U.S. and overseas, working at a non-profit agency with children and families, and working at a group practice, during which I especially enjoyed working in an integrated manner with pediatric doctors, collaborating regularly in order to provide high quality services to clients, recognizing the interconnectedness of mental and physical health and well-being.
