I have had the good fortune of doing what I love throughout my entire career. I love sewing, writing, editing, designing, teaching, photography, and speaking. I have written many books and published many from other authors since forming Palmer/Pletsch with Susan Pletsch who was with me in the business for 10 years. In most cases I have been totally involved as a book or DVD morphs into its final stage including doing much of the photography. I have designed for Vogue 1975-1980 and McCall's 1980-2020 and Butterick 2021 to present. I've had many designs in the top 10 over the years. I spent 15 years traveling 26 weeks a year teaching sewing across the US, Canada, and Australia. Currently, we teach and train teachers in Portland, Oregon as well as in MI and CT. We are known for being The Fit Experts as was dubbed by McCall Pattern Co.Specialties: We publish quality how-to books including fashion sewing, home decorating, children's sewing and quilting, fitting the body, image, and cooking. We also do DVDs, teach sewing to consumers in 4- or 5-day workshops in Portland, Or, train teachers, travel and lecture, design patterns for sewists.

After 6 months I took a dream job with Crown Textiles' Armo Interfacing Division. Then in 1971 I returned to Meier & Frank. I ran a sewing and cooking school in 5 stores and bought the sewing notions for the stores. I also handled all the events for the fabric department including consumer shows and classes.
