Family Life Academy Charter Schools create the conditions for self empowerment for all its K-12 students to excel academically, take responsibility for their own learning, and affirm human values, today, in college, and beyond.Our HistoryFLACS was founded in 2001 by the Latino Pastoral Action Center (LPAC) under the vision of Reverend Raymond Rivera. The founding team developed a vision for a school that would serve the students of the community, primarily immigrant students and English language learners. The school would create opportunities for success for all students, no matter their primary language, ethnicity, or socio-economic status. In 2012 and 2014, replication elementary schools FLACS II and FLACS III opened. In 2019, FLACS completed work on a new campus, FLACS MS, which is part of the FLACS II charter, but educates all FLACS middle school scholars from each of the three elementary schools. FLACS just opened its first High School in Fall 2022 starting with 9th grade. Each year we will expand one grade. By 2026, the campus will serve 700 scholars in grades 9-12. Like a family – and in collaboration with each family – the school will create an orderly, nurturing and dynamic environment where learning is engaging, meaningful, and often joyful. All members of the school community (students, parents, and teachers) will develop the knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm to continue learning throughout their lives, expand their understanding of what is possible for themselves and their world, and lead productive and satisfying lives.RESPONSIBILITES- Oversee instructional program- Advocate and implement school vision- Foster positive school culture - Supervise all teacher and instructional program using coaching and evaluative methods- Lead professional development and facilitate teacher growth- Serve as testing coordinator- Assist in school wide assessment activities and data analysis- Oversee, build and expand arts and academic enrichment program

The mission of Mott Hall Charter School is to prepare our scholars in mind, body, and character to succeed in top high schools, colleges, and careers by becoming inquisitive, open-minded and compassionate citizens of the world. We are located in the South Bronx and serve students from the neighboring area.Mott Hall offers a rigorous academic program grounded in the International Baccalaureate Programme. Partnerships include playwriting program with TDF, Global Scholars program with Global Cities, Inc, Runaway Art: Interpreting Colonial Slave Ads with Center for Arts Education and Music and Dance concerts with The Armory.- Create and oversee IB Community Project. Create scheduling and curriculum, establish partnerships with local service organizations for student volunteering opportunities. - Create vision, implement and supervise After School Enrichment Program with the following offerings: Coding and Robotics, Mott Hall TV (video and film production), Visual Arts, Dance, Music, Regents offerings and tutoring.

I oversee a theatre arts scholarship mentoring program with 24 participating NYC Public High Schools. Open Doors offers small groups of bright and underserved high school students an in-depth introduction to live theatre and dance. Each group is assigned a professional theatre or dance mentor. Our mentors are some of the industry's most dedicated theatre and dance professionals, Pulitzer and Tony Winning writers, directors, lyricists, actors. The mentors take the students to an average of 6 performances throughout the year, sit side by side with them during the performance and then engage the students in an in-depth 90 minute post-performance disucssion about the show. The students are then asked to write a journal reflecting on the entire experience. Tony- and Pulitzer-winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein joined with TDF in 1998 to found Open Doors.Open Doors was the recipient of the 2012 Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre! We're the first arts education program in history to win a Tony Honors!
