Director of Corporate Services at The Marine Institute. The Marine Institute is the national agency responsible for marine research, technology, development and innovation. The Corporate Services function includes Finance, Corporate Governance, Human Resources, Facilities and other Services. I am the Institute's Energy Performance Officer and acted as Data Protection Officer until December 2020.I previously was a Director at KPMG, Ireland working in professional services. In that role, I worked on Irish GAAP, IFRS, US GAAP and ICOFR (internal control review) audit and assurance engagements. I managed due diligence and other client advisory projects including the provision of internal audit services, procurement process support and finance function reviews. As a member of the KPMG management team, I had responsibility for strategy, financial performance, HR, staff development, performance management and leadership of team members and co-ordinated relationships with industry and other partners.I have previously lectured on the Masters of Accounting Programme in NUI Galway and presented to Corporate Boards on Corporate Governance and financial matters. I am a former Director and Company Secretary of Croi, the West of Ireland based Charity. In this role, I provided advice and guidance to the Board Chair and Board members on their obligations under company law, led the implementation of governance best practice and brought independent perspective to enhance operational decision making and strategic development. I am a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and hold a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Hons), Law and Accounting.
