Role listed
Director Of Enrollment, Family Forest Carbon Program
To support all U.S. geographic regions of operation, my team (and external vendors) focus on enrollment of landowners in forest carbon projects and their ongoing contract management. While strategically refining a viable business model that maximizes enrollment by developing workable contract negotiations, addressing landowner concerns, providing resources to aid landowner decision-making, and creating efficiencies, I address legal complexities related to program operations as well as risk mitigation through implementation of appropriate due diligence measures and operational requirements in the contracting stage to maximize the generation of high-integrity, verified carbon credits.
Northeast Director, Family Forest Carbon Program
Nurturing partner and landowner relationships, I oversaw the launch of the Family Forest Carbon Program in the Northeast to enable small family-owned forests to transform collectively into a meaningful and verifiable natural climate solution. While building a team to deliver the Family Forest Carbon Program, I worked with a coalition of conservation partners to design science-based program requirements to increase carbon sequestration and storage through climate smart forestry, adapted pilot learnings to optimize a viable regional business model, and established a foundation upon which to expand from NY, MA, and VT to NH and ME as well.
Senior Fellow
After further developing leadership skills involving cultural competency, social media, and collaborations, I graduated from the Eastern Regional Network Fellowship into the Senior Fellows network. I currently work with a network of 1200+ fellows nationwide to promote environmental sustainability and social justice.
Executive Secretary
I support the Board of Trustees and nonprofit operations including renewing charitable registrations and insurance, organizing and documenting meetings, maintaining and updating organizational records such as Board resolutions and Bylaws, tracking of donations, acknowledgements, and membership lists, and preparing outreach materials. I also directed the annual newsletter content production, design, and printing and assist land preservation transactions.
Executive Director
I led HLT to earn national Accreditation through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission and significantly increased organizational funding to create a new and robust stewardship program. As an engaged member of the Keep It Green Coalition, I helped to secure dedicated state funding for preservation programs. As the Director, I had approximately ten direct reports and oversaw all nonprofit operations including strategic planning, human resources management, board management, financial management and fiscal reporting, governance and compliance, risk management, land acquisition, management of facilities and 1,000 acres of public parks, developing and negotiating outside vendor contracts for natural resource restoration and capital building projects, program delivery and evaluation, fundraising, and communications.
Program Manager
I developed sustainability action content and operationalized the certification process for the award-winning municipal certification program, Sustainable Jersey, in which 65% of NJ municipalities participated in the first three years. I collaborated with state agencies and local government representatives while leading three task forces to inform program content. I also directed 11 reviewers to complete multiple certification cycles annually with 35-60 applicants each cycle while managing the custom technological infrastructure supporting such operations.
Acting Director (2010), Project Coordinator
While managing its website and supporting Sustainable Jersey as outlined above, I directed the production of energy efficiency plans for 12 municipal clients, prepared 3 community sustainability plans, and developed a climate action plan for Trenton. I researched and developed indicators for a “State of the State” report to assess quality of life in NJ.
Conservation Program Manager
I managed the land preservation and stewardship programs. In addition to promoting sound regional planning as a member of the Highlands Coalition policy committee, I advocated at local and state levels for conservation priorities by analyzing natural resource management policy proposals and submitting written and verbal comments. While successfully administrating a $100,000 319h grant and associated riparian restoration projects to improve water quality, I upgraded the stream monitoring program to meet NJ Department of Environmental Protection’s highest standards and reorganized land trust activities to comply with the Land Trust Alliance Standards & Practices.
Teaching Fellow
I independently taught a section of students outside the professor’s lectures, generated class plans and the syllabus, developed student writing skills, graded papers, and reinforced course material.
Peer Reviewer
To improve academic work products, I reviewed undergraduate to doctoral candidate submissions and provided advice to guide editing and revisions.
Tutor
I led weekly group sessions and organized field trips to improve conversation skills and cultural acclimation. I independently tutored six international students with paper editing, presentations, public speaking, and pronunciation.
Tutor And Mentor
I taught literacy skills to elementary school students from disadvantaged backgrounds and organized field trips for mentoring purposes.
