I work in an FE college teaching mixed ability groups of students from the age of 18 to senior citizens. During my time working at New Directions I have gained invaluable skills, including interpersonal skills, influencing and negotiating skills, and management of programmes needing implementing. I have also developed line management skills, for example recruiting, developing, motivating and assessing performance. I recruit new students as part of the marketing process in the college.As a teacher I have many responsibilities and skills. I need to record and maintain accurate records to ensure progress and achievement is logged correctly. It is important for me to be flexible to meet the needs of students as some students I work with have mental health issues or learning difficulties. These students can require more one to one attention. I plan for each lesson and consider myself a well organised person. It is very important for me to get the planning stage correct as this is the foundation of a good lesson. My time management skills are very good and has been noted at observations. I consider myself to have good leadership qualities as I can always manage a class well.I was awarded the Professional Certificate in Education in 2013.
