CurrentThe AI in Leprosy Project is a new initiative integrated into the scope of the Image Bank Project, with the purpose of carrying out activities related to the development of AI focused on the management and diagnosis of leprosy in Brazil. Although various project fronts can be developed simultaneously, the primary focus in the first year will be the creation of a public dataset of leprosy images in Brazil, an initiative of great value for research, diagnosis, and treatment of the disease.In summary, over the next three years, this project has the mission to:- Identify the best way to use images of skin lesions and peripheral nerves, along with clinical and epidemiological information.- Develop an application for collecting clinical and epidemiological information as well as images.- Create a dataset containing images of skin lesions and peripheral nerve ultrasonographies.- Develop algorithms for diagnosis.- Sequentially, test these algorithms following AI guidelines.- Develop and conduct a multicenter randomized clinical trial for the use of AI algorithms in the SUS network throughout Brazil, preferably through CONECT SUS.
