Responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative operations of the clinical departments for both Neal and Tulia TDCJ Units. Exercise a high degree of initiative and independent judgment, and possess a general knowledge of Health Sciences Center policies and procedures as they relate to department financial management and personnel administration. Provide direct supervision to department staff personnel. Work is performed under usual office conditions; deadlines, meetings and maybe some travel. Additionally, work requires considerable contact and coordination with HSC administrative officials, administrative personnel of other departments and units, granting agencies, other institutions, and government organizations.

The Transition Navigator represents the Agency in activities involving professional contacts with patients/families, physicians, hospitals/facilities, senior living communities, professional associations, and similar health groups and institutions, to apprise them of the availability of the Agency’s Hospice services; integrates clinical guidelines, protocols and other metrics in development of transition plans that are patient-centered, promoting quality and efficiency in the delivery of care.The Transition Navigator represents the Agency in external transitional care activities, strategic relationships with health systems, home health, hospitals and other inpatient facilities, physicians and physician groups, and executive level opportunities; serves as a public awareness representative for the Agency, and is responsible for education relative to Hospice services provided by the Agency; is responsible for monitoring execution of transitional care services through ongoing quality assurance visits with referral sources and other applicable entities.

Advanced Med-Surg Concepts/ Critical Care o Provides clinical instruction to students in approved health care settings, adhering to the policies of the clinical setting and the University.o Discusses with students their concerns and/or problems directly or indirectly related to learning experience.o Assists the student to develop an understanding of values, attitudes, and ideals appropriate to the health care profession.o Participates in faculty meetings, both formally and informally with didactic and clinical faculty members.o Provides clinical, classroom, and skills lab instruction.o Orients students to the clinical area, and demonstrates proper procedures.o Produces and distributes course learning objectives and student schedules to the clinical facilities prior to student attendance at the facility.o Leads discussions and elicits information from students which demonstrate that students are learning and accomplishing the clinical objectives.o Maintains clinical standards and course expectations throughout each course or term.o Evaluates and grades student performance. Meets with students at midterm for formal evaluation and again at the end of the course as to progress and performance. o Maintains the professional practice knowledge base needed to instruct learners in contemporary nursing practice.o Communicates with Clinical Coordinator and/or Director of Undergraduate Nursing Program as necessary to resolve issues or concerns in clinical areas.o Works effectively as part of the overall faculty team demonstrating positive interpersonal relations, collaborating with other faculty members to meet student needs, participating in faculty meetings and nursing program committees, and responding to requests from management.o Participates in ongoing program evaluation activities as needed.o Maintains faculty expectations as required by the University and the Board of Nursing.

The CCRC facilitates enrollment of subjects to IRB (Independent Review Board) approved research protocols on behalf of a primary physician investigator. Serves as principle liasson and project coordinator within the facility, providing consultive management to leadership and management regarding study operations. The CCRC ensures timely submission of data to protocol sponsors and maintains efficient information gathering distribution systems and programs. Additionally, develops collaborative relationships with sponsors, government regulatory bodies, and local ancillary support groups in relation to implemented protocols. The CCRC communicates protocol requirements and coordinates the treatment and followup of registered subjects with investigators and ancillary support staff. Additional responsibilities:-Evaluates protocol feasibility-Clinical trial preparations, including planning, assembly and instruction of team members,development and evaluation of patient information, informed consent documents, and patient recruitment -Regulatory and ethical considerations and communicating with regulatory bodies -Implementation of the clinical trial from initiation through stages of development documents, SOPs, tools, licenses, etc. -Recruitment and coordination of trial subjects covering informed consent, screening and inclusion of the subjects adhering to safety and compliance -Coordination and management of the clinical trial, communication w/sponsor and authorities, visit coordination, sampling, time management and investigational product accountability -Data collection & management, collection of source documents, use of CRFs, registration and management of AEs (adverse events), filing and archiving, managing monitor visits, & resolving queries.-Close out clinical trials, contributing to research articles as necessary, audit preparations, communications with other authorities (FDA, sponsors, etc), assist in final study findings and reporting.

CCRC tasked with oversight of cardiac clinical trials. Restructuring of this clinic and the subsequent downsizing of the research department and potential closure prompted my relocating to another community setting that had a Clinical Research Department.

Licensed Practical Nurse then Registered Nurse for busy medical/surgical unit with 40 beds; patients admitted from ER, ICU, PACU, Day Surgery, Direct Admissions, hospital transfers. General Medical care patients: COPD, Renal, CHF, etc, & surgical over-flow patients.
