I am responsible for business development at Paragon Global Markets LLC, an independent brokerage business specializing in execution and clearing services in the global derivatives and FX markets. My focus is on developing our commercial business in energy, biofuels, and carbon markets. I originate specialized brokerage transaction services, providing futures, options, and bilaterally executed OTC structures. I also provide specialized hedge consulting, helping to structure customized hedges for our commercial clients and providing customized research.

Created successful commodity clearing business for this FCM subsidiary of Mitsubishi International. Client base consisted of institutional hedgers, using derivatives to hedge commodity price exposure. • Business included all energies, LME Metals, precious metal cash and carry business, ethanol, power and agricultural commodities. • Collaborated with Petro Diamond Risk Management, an energy dealer subsidiary of Mitsubishi, successfully introducing customer OTC ISDA-based bilateral swap business in crude products and natural gas derivative markets. • Developed original daily cross-commodity research and market analysis on Forex, metals, energy, ethanol, softs and grains, which I sent to clients and about 50 internal Mitsubishi executives globally. Supported clients of other divisions of Mitsubishi, ie. the foods division by providing risk management expertise to sugar and coffee companies.

In this role, I designed and implemented a successful and aggressive outreach program for the exchange to increase volume and open interest in core exchange products: coffee, sugar, cocoa, cotton, equity indices, commodity indices and foreign currencies, resulting in major increases in all products. • Organized outreach to institutional investors, hedge funds, and commercial hedgers, creating an exchange database of clients and prospects by sector and product. Identified industry associations as partners, speaking at industry conferences, supervised advertising campaigns, creation of training programs, literature, trade event sponsorship, etc. •Targeted global sugar producers by organizing a series of international, foreign language seminars on the use of futures and particularly options. These were held in Portuguese in several Brazilian cities and in Spanish in Miami for Central American producers. Organized multiple successful conferences for the sugar and ethanol industry in New York. • Organized and coordinated an international committee to create an ethanol futures contract from product design, creation and launch. Partnered with key publishing companies, associations and trade groups on the launch.

I ran a marketing research group which supported origination of all of the firm’s energy industry risk management products: weather derivatives; alternative risk products, structured risk management products for power gas coal, petrochemicals, emissions, fertilizer markets; structured finance opportunities; gas storage and electric capacity sales and included:• Introduced risk management consulting business with several large international coal producers. Supported consulting project for fertilizer manufactures using natural gas as feedstock. Identified new customers for alternative risk structured financial products which bundled multiple risks: i.e. temperature contingent options on gas. rainfall contingent call on power, and power plant outage contingent calls on power.• Organized Weather Derivatives marketing initiatives: Research on Argentina, Mexico, and South Africa resulted in a $3M investment by the World Bank’s IFC. Organized sales and marketing plans for weather-contingent agricultural yield products and Guaranteed Forecast products. • Structured Finance: Identified and introduced new finance opportunities for Aquila Energy Capital Corporation, a private equity subsidiary financing alternative energy companies.

Managed the Power, gas and coal marketing team, supervising all marketing activities for the “power complex” at NYMEX: natural gas futures and options, power futures, and coal futures.. Implemented aggressive outreach program consisting of workshops, seminars and speaking engagements targeted to marketing companies, LDCs and industrial end users. Organized 19 seminars to promote new products and over 50 presentations at conferences and on-site client venues. Conducted an international campaign to educate the coal industry on the use of risk management techniques in preparation for the launch of the NYMEX Central Appalachian coal futures contract.

Part of the team that created the Dow Jones proprietary power indexes, price data, news, and analytics. and the team which rolled out PowerHub, the first wholesale power transactional system for members of the Western Systems Power Pool. Worked with developers to create a relational database for natural gas data for large utility client.
