Since its inception in 1999, people from more than 75 countries have participated in programs and events at the International Center. The International Center also supports Upstate South Carolina as an important hub for international investment and trade. The Upstate is home to more than 230 international companies and boasts the highest level of international investment per capita of any region in the U.S. In this role, I consulted with international companies and economic development entities to support international investment in the region. Passionate about cultural diversity in my community, my most important role was to serve as an advocate for the region's international residents and the 30+ ethnic organizations in Upstate South Carolina. My efforts were recognized with several awards for my service in promoting international diversity and cross-cultural understanding.
