I’m the administrator of SCBWI’s network of Regional Teams (RTs), covering up to 80 regions and comprised of nearly 300 volunteer Regional Advisors (RAs), Assistant Regional Advisors (ARAs), Illustrator Coordinators (ICs), and Translator Coordinators (TCs) from around the globe. Utilizing decades of experience as a region and global-level volunteer for SCBWI, as well as experience in journalism, government, and the nonprofit sector, I represent the needs and interests of all RTs to headquarters and serve as their headquarters point of contact. I seek input from the Global Regional Coordinators and their teams to create policies and procedures that keep regions functioning smoothly. I oversee all RT communications channels, onboard new RTs, help RTs with region and member needs, and organize training, educational, and networking opportunities for RTs that support SCBWI’s mission, vision, and values.

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, or SCBWI, is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization, and one of the largest existing organizations for writers and illustrators. It is the only professional organization specifically for those individuals writing and illustrating for children and young adults in the fields of children’s literature, magazines, film, television, and multimedia. SCBWI supports the creation and availability of quality children’s books around the world by fostering a vibrant community of professionals including writers, illustrators, translators, editors, publishers, agents, librarians, educators, booksellers, bloggers, enthusiasts and others. SCBWI provides education and support for writers and illustrators by offering awards, grants, programs and events, improving the quality and quantity of children’s books in the marketplace, and acting as a consolidated voice for writers and illustrators of children's books worldwide. Developed and organized educational and recreational activities for residents that provided multiple opportunities for interaction with various age groups, increased community engagement, and allowed residents to provide meaningful service to others.
