Patrick Abela completed his core training as a Psychiatrist in Malta. He has additional training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Imaginative Movement Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. He is currently working in the Kuratorium für Psychosoziale Dienste (PSD) in Vienna, delivering socially conscious psychiatric care to individuals with extreme psychosocial burdens.His special interests include restrictive eating disorders and fatigue disorders, including Long Covid. He has worked with the Maltese Mental Health Services, leading multidisciplinary teams in community clinics, crisis resolution centres, youth wellness hubs, and eating disorder rehabilitation facilities.Patrick delivers culturally sensitive care to his patients through his fluency in English, German, Italian, and Maltese. His inclusive approach ensures that he effectively addresses the unique needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including different faiths and the LGBT community.
