: I am an enthusiastic individual who is highly motivated and a fast learner. I am great at communicating with people and as a result of this I find myself approachable and trustworthy which helps me achieve great things in the work place. Throughout my working life, I had devoted a lot of time and effort to Royal Mail. They had been my employer for 29.5 years up to 2011. I joined Royal Mail as a telegram boy and worked my way through various managerial roles from the early age of 20 years old. In my last few years with Royal Mail I had achieved a role in the senior management structure and lead a team of people on World class Mail . Since taking voluntary redundancy I have been on a journey as a self employed electrician and handyman, in which I have learnt and developed my interpersonal skills. Since 2011, I have run my own business and in January 2015, I decided that I was missing the challenge of being a manager and working with a team and applied for the job at DHL, which I was successful. Within 9 months I was promoted to Shift operations manager. The reason for starting at the bottom of the chain again was that my knowledge of retail was limited but have over 29 years managerial experience at most levels from front line to senior site management, but have all the skills for your current job advert to be an asset to your company. One of my main assets is being able to coach and develop any team that work around me, to become confident and successful in their working environment.One of my major achievements in life was going to college at the age of 40 having not been at school since 1981. Training as a qualified electrician Level 3 NVQ 3 over a 4 year period. In this time I also gained a NVQ 2 in Business Improvement Techniques, which tested all of my work life balance skills and managerial skills. Doing this simultaneously whilst running a unit at royal mail was enjoyable but proved very challenging at times.
