The California Data Collaborative ("CaDC") brings together leading water utilities and top class data science talent to save money and water. I helped grow our core partners from 6 to 14 utilities and built a lean 3 person data science team along with over 50 low-bono supporting interns and research fellows. Together we: -Won the "moonshot" award in the 2018 California water data challenge and honored as a leading project in the 2016 Obama White House Water initiative.-Produced analytical results featured in Harpers magazine, the Associated Press, KNX news radio and other news outlets.-Helped partner utilities save over 20 million dollars in avoided capital costs and inform the optimization of over half a billion dollars invested in turf rebates.-Developed new applied statistical techniques to measure water savings that were published in the world leading journal the Annals of Applied Statistics.-Led the development of SCUBA, a best-in-class public data warehouse that standardizes and automates the standardization of metered water use at the most granular, end user level. -Developed research partnerships with Stanford, UCLA, USC, and over a half dozen more universities to enable applied research using SCUBA data.-Automated the estimation of water saved from water conservation programs, providing an often missing yet critical measure of cost effectiveness. -Envisioned, developed and launched a first-of-its-kind water data collaborative, initially with six water utilities and grown to 14 utilities serving 23 million Californians.

Competitively selected to be a part of the inaugural Climate Resilience Leadership Network (CRLN) program, a leadership development program for professionals working within and across the diverse and intersectional issue of climate resiliency in Los Angeles County. CRLN brings together a diverse cross-sector cohort of professionals for an immersive experiential program committed to building the leadership capacity of Los Angeles County’s climate policy, advocacy and community-based change makers. From February until September, I'l be focused on building my leadership skills, systems-based knowledge, and issue-centered networks, exposing myself to cross-sectoral and intersectional perspectives on climate issues and policy, community and issues advocacy, environmental justice, and land conservation and transformation. The curriculum includes a wide range of professional skills-building, such as Adaptive Leadership; Coalition Building and Community Engagement; Effective Communication, Storytelling, and Advocacy; Effective Inquiry and Critical Thinking; Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging; Group Dynamics; Living Infrastructure Concepts; Negotiations and Managing Conflict; Place-Sourced Practices; Public Narrative Frameworks; Regenerative Approaches; Self-Awareness and Self-Management Tools; and Stakeholder Analysis and Power Analysis. • Rapidly synthesized diverse viewpoints from ~125 internal and external stakeholders on California Dream Index concept to develop and launch an analytics product (CADreamIndex.org). • Refine and achieve consensus on metrics to track progress on key areas affecting economic mobility in California.• Execute high impact research projects.

-Won a Knight Prototyping Fund grant ($35k) and went to the final round of NYC Big Apps for Street Quality Identification (SQUID) work. -Developed a data parsing and integration pipeline for Moulton Niguel Water District along with interactive analytical dashboards and robust econometric research on turf rebate water conservation savings.-Led a team of four civic data scientists to support ten major US cities in working through their data challenges for the August 2015 MacArthur “City Analytics” convening at CUSP.-Part of the founding team that landed a pilot with New York City’s Mayor’s Office of Operations to test ARGO’s Street Quality Identification Device (“SQUID”) across the city.

Wrote production data parsing software to pull in open government data into the world's largest repository of public data.
