I retired from Chrysler/FCA in 2020 after 35 years in Powertrain. I am known as an Engine Air Flow Specialist, having supervised the Flow Room in Highland Park and CTC for many years. This association allowed me to have input on most of FCA's engines. My understanding of cylinder heads/induction and engine performance allowed me to be a Team member on nearly every Dodge/SRT Motorsports program. Thus, almost half of my years at FCA I was involved with Motorsports, including Managing the SRT Motorsports Powertrain group from 2010 - 2015 when we won NASCAR Nationwide (2010) and Cup (2012) Championships with Penske Racing, 2012 & 2013 NHRA Pro Stock Championships with J&J Racing, 2014 SCCA TA2 Championship with Miller Racing, and launched the 2015 Mopar Drag Pak vehicle which destroyed the NHRA FS/B record with Ray Barton Racing. Through my concept/production and racing experiences, I became versed in many aspects of engine simulation, design, prototyping, testing, performance and durability development. Thus, I have been asked to participate on many tech groups, investigate items, classroom training and mentoring, and process standards. My last 5 years at FCA were in Advanced Powertrain, applying racing processes to developing fuel saving technologies. Much of this work was funded by Shell Oil.I am particularly proud to have written the paper on Hemi 2-Valve mixture motion and discharge coefficients (based on a modern 2 plug design) which Bob Lee (VP Engineering) used to create an investigate Team and became the Gen 3 family of Hemi engines, which have been so profitable for FCA. I am also especially proud to have furthered Dodge/SRT's performance reputation, especially while Managing the SRT Motorsports Powertrain group. My work in Advanced was leading edge, and I was one of 2 people chosen by Chris Cowland to design a new hybrid engine in my last year at FCA.After 2 weeks of retirement, I decided to start "Motorsports Engineering, LLC" as a consulting business. I have been consulting for Textron Systems, as well as some racing projects. Lately I have been working for Polaris Ind, which has been great!As a hobby, I enjoy 1/32 scale slot car racing. I started "CNC Track Design, LLC", leveraging my association with IDEA Group, (design service in Southfield, MI). We design and manufacture custom layouts in premium MDF. It is a great artistic outlet, and I have many Customers who are new friends. I have tracks from CA to MA!
