Extensive experience in I.T., beginning with security pre- and post-sales, primarily with Checkpoint on Nokia IP appliances (which will tell you how long I’ve worked in I.T.) and then into multi-disciplined support in Financial Services, initially at Daiwa Securities. As AVP of I.T. infrastructure in Sumi today, my job is to ensure that our I.T. systems are helping to drive the business forward, delivering the services our users and clients demand, while maintaining core stability and availability at all times. I have overall responsibility for the company’s infrastructure across five sites; servers, (both physical and virtual) WAN, LAN, SAN, security, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity.On a day-to-day basis, my team and I maintain and operate;Compute - HP DL servers, HP C-Class blades. Cisco UCS Blade system, Virtualisation - VMware (vCentre, vSphere, ESXi 4.0, 5.5 and 6.0, vROps, Site Recovery Manager, Log Insight Manager, Infrastructure Navigator, Replication Appliance).Storage – HP EVA, EMC Clariion, EMC VNX, EMC Unity, EMC Recoverpoint. Everything from HBA installation, fibre zoning, storage provisioning and block replication. Network – Cisco switches and routers, MPLS, various IP lines.Security – Cisco ASA, Palo Alto firewall, Palo Alto Traps, McAfee AV, Symantec AV, RSA SIEM, End user environment – Citrix 6.5, 7.6 on Dell thin client terminals.In addition, I’m responsible for Infrastructure budget maintenance, all aspects of licensing (Microsoft EA, Oracle, VMware), vendor relationships, product evaluation & selection. In between, I help to run a busy helpdesk dealing with escalations, while mentoring and supporting my team as much as I can in the great work that they do.
