I am an EIT working at BBA Consultants in Toronto as a part of their Structural and Mineral Processing Teams.On the Structural side, I am focused mainly on industrial structural engineering for clients in the mining sector, and Structural Engineering is my educational background. I graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2022 with a Masters of Applied Science (Civil Engineering) degree focusing on the design of concrete structures. Specifically, my thesis focused on finite element modelling of reinforced concrete flat slabs with shear reinforcement subjected to punching shear.On the Mineral Processing side, I manage the Material Assessment for Self-Heating (MASH) lab at BBA. We do testing projects on a variety of mining materials (ores, concentrates, tailings etc.) to characterize their risk for a phenomenon in sulphide-based material called Sulphide Self-Heating. This is a pressing concern for mining operations worldwide, and requires careful consideration and mitigation to be dealt with correctly.
