As a counterpoint to my business experience, I gained a completely different skill set teaching English as a second language at KJC Language Academy in South Korea. Beyond basic teaching skills (public speaking, planning, organization, etc.) teaching in a foreign country contributed a unique set of skills beyond those which typically come through work in the field of education. Among the skills I gained teaching abroad are comfort level and ability to work cross-culturally, ability to adapt to new people and environments, and ability to efficiently lead groups made up of various types of individuals.

The highlight of my recent business experience has been my role as Management Trainee for Enterprise Rent-a-Car. Helping me to build on my sales and marketing skills, Enterprise gave me the opportunity to negotiate profitable rental agreements, manage customer follow-up, build relationships with customers, independently solve problems upon rental return, and properly track/file rental transactions digitally. Enterprise Rent-a-Car has a world class business training program and former employees are highly sought after in many industries.

As manager of Musician's Choice Rehearsal Studio I my role was primarily to deliver an excellent rehearsal experience to local musicians who came in to practice. I also created flyers and promotional material for the company and devised a successful co-branding campaign with chain music retailer Guitar Center.

At West LA music I handled basic customer service and point of sale functions. My additional responsibilities were to maintain relationships with loyal customers through follow-up calls, submit inventory re-order reports and set up in-store displays.

My role as Vice President of the Environmental Business Society at San Diego State University involved fundraising, event promotion, public speaking, and community outreach. My responsibilities included meeting deadlines for sponsorship goals, booking speakers from local green businesses, overseeing marketing campaigns for environmentally themed events, and hosting meetings with students and community members. In addition to the skills mentioned above, carrying out these duties provided a scope of how environmentally responsible and non-profit organizations operate.
