After earning a Master's degree in teaching with dual certification in teaching English and teaching students with disabilities, I have spent my time teaching Reading and Writing to 8th-grade students in Jersey City. Teaching young people to not only excel at reading and writing, but also enjoy it, is my passion. My philosophy is focused in reading and writing for enjoyment first. If that can be achieved, the rest becomes is easy. From 2009 to 2016, I worked for Worrall Media Group in Union, New Jersey, covering local, county and state news. In 2011, I was given the opportunity to become the regional editor of Union County, responsible for the coverage of 21 municipalities in northern New Jersey. From day one as the regional editor of Union County LocalSource, I worked with reporters to treat every story like investigative journalism and flesh them out as much as possible to provide every last fact and allow the readers to reach their own opinions. Using the website to keep citizens informed daily, and using the print edition to provide in-depth coverage, we were able to create a news outlet that was no longer just a family-friendly paper with pictures of local kids. Instead, it is an integrity-filled news gathering tool that is both feared and respected by local residents and politicians alike, but still providing readers with the important event information and community updates they have come to expect. And it still features local kids.
