Effective May 16, 2014 I've joined the Special Service Area Division, to which I am assigned 12 SSA Districts throughout the City, manage their Executive Directors and Program Managers and coordinate with them on their business development/improvement projects within their respective Districts. Special Service Areas, known as Business Improvement Districts or BIDs in other cities, are local tax districts that fund expanded services and programs through a localized property tax levy within contiguous areas. The enhanced services and programs are in addition to those currently provided through the City.SSA-funded projects typically include but are not limited to: public way maintenance and beautification; district marketing and advertising; business retention/attraction, special events and promotional activities; auto and bike transit; security; façade improvements; and other commercial and economic development initiatives.The City contracts with local non-profits, called Service Providers, to manage SSAs. Appointed by the Mayor of Chicago, SSA Commissioners for each SSA district oversee and recommend the annual services, budget and Service Provider Agency to the City. There are currently over 50 active SSAs in Chicago.

The Coalition of African-American Leaders’ (C.O.A.L.) mission is to be cognizant of issues pertinent to the African-American community of a specific or general nature. C.O.A.L. will act or respond to these issues in ways that are acceptable to the members and have a positive impact on a particular situation or situations with the goal of enhancing the African American Condition. COAL will interact with the public and private leadership of Chicago to discuss important issues with the intent of being helpful in finding mutually beneficial solutions to these issues.I am very proud to have an opportunity to serve COAL while utilizing my experience in bringing a value-added level of knowledge to my community.

Greater Grand Crossing Community - Chicago

As a member of the Grand Crossing Park Advisory council, I am part of a dynamic group of stakeholders who promote ways for the community to better utilize the Chicago Park District's programs and facilities at our park in the Grand Crossing Community; provide communication to the Park District and neighborhood on matters relating to our park; increase community awareness of Park District projects; provide the community with a vehicle through which park information can be shared; and assist in locating alternate funding sources to enhance park facilities. Did you know that our fieldhouse is landmarked and on the National Landmark of Historic Places? The park is truly a wonderful property on Chicago's southside!

1St Congressional District

Post-Election: Received approximately 16,366 votes in the Democratic Primary. Came in second place in both Will County and Suburban Cook County, capturing 34.26% and 19.95% respectively. Captured the youth vote (millennials and Gen-Xers) and a considerable share of blue collar voters in the south suburbs. Positioned now as the next best alternative to lead this Congressional District in the immediate future who can advance the economic development, job creation and unification of the District's local goals in the region in 2018 and beyond. Pre-Election: Actively campaigning to seek the nomination to the US House of Representatives from Democratic electors and win the Primary election to be held on March 15, 2016. Currently, second on the ballot I submitted over 6,000 petitions, which were not contested during the challenge period. My campaign will draw a clear distinction between the:1 - failed policies of the PAST that contributed to the economic and social decline of the District (represented by the incumbent); 2 - misguided policies in the PRESENT that have led to increased food insecurities, unsafe communities, education inequality and further decline of the majority population of those who live in the most farthest north in the District (represented by an elected challenger); 3 - the well defined goals and objectives for our FUTURE that will improve the quality of life for residents by being tougher on misconduct by law enforcement, increase jobs and develop a regional economic development strategy that will unite the entire district.The question is who do we need representing our 1st District? Chicagoland Area

After being appointed, I proudly accepted the leadership position of Western Division Area Commissioner of the Christian Fellowship League (CFL); where along with a team of assistant commissioners, we led nearly 30 teams and over 325 participants in organized recreational yet competitive sports that culminated in a Sweet 16 divisional playoffs between the Western (Chicagoland), Central (Indiana) and Eastern (Michigan) Divisions and a Final Four Championship format. Organized and directed the Final Four Championship weekend in Chicago (2015) that resulted in Championships for both the Senior and Junior Divisions. Appointment lasted one year, due to an organizational restructuring in May 2015. The CFL is a Christ Centered Sports League offering Basketball and Volleyball for young people and adults in a variety of sports divisions (small fry, intermediate, juniors, seniors AND co-ed volleyball) in existence for over 35 years. Outside of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) and AAU level sports, the CFL is perhaps the most competitive sports league in the Midwest. I utilized all of my abilities and knowledge gained in the public, private and community sectors and leveraged them so that the league continued to grow and gain new sponsors and generated continued and new interest in our operations. Henry Booth House - Chicago

Henry Booth House, is a 501c3, Greater Chicago nonprofit community-based social services agency. Founded in 1898 , the mission is to improve the quality of life for families in culturally and economically diverse Chicago communities by providing comprehensive and integrated early childhood learning, family health and social services.I am very proud to have joined and served three years on the Board of Directors. This was a volunteer position that allowed me to leverage all of my skills, knowledge and abilities, lend them to HBH and participate in the decision making process of a great social service organization. I am excited to be have been a part of this organization as we aimed to make it the model leader in the social services industry.

William H. Ray Elementary School

By law, Local School Councils (LSCs) play a role in decision-making at the local school level. The primary responsibilities of LSCs include approving how school funds and resources are allocated, approving and monitoring the implementation of the annual school improvement plan, and hiring and evaluating the school's contract principal.As the Chairman of the LSC Continuous Improvement Work Plan, each CPS school develops a school improvement plan every two years. This plan—which is required by Illinois state law establishes a school's mission, the strategic priorities for the next two years, and the specific actions that the school will take to accomplish its goals. CPS introduced a new school improvement planning template called the Continuous Improvement Work Plan, or CIWP. I am happy and proud to be on the LSC at Ray School, Chairman of the CIWP Committee and a valued member of the board responsible for planning the future of my child's school.In the Spring of 2014, I also served as the Co-Chair of the Principal Selection Committee. This 18-member committee was comprised of school personnel, teachers, parents and community stakeholders and was tasked with finding qualified candidates to recommend to the LSC in order to award and hire a contract principal for the school.

Effective October 15, 2012 I've joined the Workforce Solutions Division, where my focus is on facilitating the delivery of workforce services specific to business expansion, relocation and stabilization of Chicago businesses. We also provide employment and skill upgrade opportunities for Chicago residents. Managing the TIFWorks program among others, we are making a difference in increasing the capacity of small to mid-size businesses in Chicago!

2Nd Congressional District

The 2nd Congressional District of Illinois is based in the South Suburbs of Illinois, Southeast side of Chicago and in Will and Kankakee Counties, represents over 650,000 citizens. However, it is one of the smallest Congressional Districts in the nation, AND has one of the highest foreclosure rates and many people are struggling to live comfortably. This being the case, the people have had to depend on their public officials and government to provide assistance where needed; but unfortunately, effective service has not been offered or provided and the people have remained unresponded to. I have always believed that the voice of the people has been forgotten, the issues of the people in the 2nd Congressional District have remained unanswered and leadership has failed to perform their duties with honor and integrity. Additionally, I am very encouraged by the responses given by everyday people who are desperately seeking a fresh alternative to the choices being offered in this race. Over my 17 year career in the public sector at the Illinois Department of Transportation and the City of Chicago, I am confident that my experience in Economic & Community Development, leading large-scaled infrastructure projects, working with companies and stakeholders to create jobs, revitalizing communities and managing projects that have created affordable housing in some of the regions most challenged neighborhoods is a value-added component that uniquely distinguishes my abilities and highlights my preparedness to serve the constituents and offers for consideration to voters an experienced option who can make a difference in this election. I'm proud to be from University Park, IL, was raised in the South Suburbs and know firsthand the challenging conditions of the region and believe that I'm the only person capable of offering strong leadership and smart ideas for economic growth that will dramatically improve the quality of life that will serve the interests of the people.

Project Manager in the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) where the City of Chicago received an allocation of $169,000,000 to preserve affordable housing by working to ensure that troubled housing stock is recapitalized, occupied and managed in an appropriate manner while contributing positively to the surrounding community. Primary consumers: property owners / developers. The goal of the program is to stabilize neighborhoods by getting vacant foreclosed homes up-to-code and occupied as quickly as possible in targeted areas. Primary functions include:Review of developer credentials and proposals submitted via the Department’s Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process to determine eligibility and recommendation for participation in the NSP program.Lead the NSP vacant land sale protocols through the legislative process (Community Development Commission, City Council and Housing and Real Estate Committee).Promote the NSP program by collaborating with community/neighborhood organizations in the NSP Program target areas.Assist in the implementation and enforcement of the City of Chicago’s Affordable Housing Preservation OrdinanceAssist in the implementation and execution of the City of Chicago`s Micro Market Recovery Program

Springfield, Il - Project Field Office Located In Matteson, Il

Land Acquisition Coordinator for the South Suburban Airport Project (now aka: Abraham Lincoln National Airport). Coordinated a $75M program to acquire privately owned property in a 23,000+ acre footprint for site assembly to construct the largest proposed economic development project the state of Illinois ever planned. When completed, this airport will alleviate air congestion in northeastern Illinois and the nation. Directed and monitored the consultants and staff’s acquisition-related activities to reassure that project objectives were met in a timely fashion. Participated in all aspects of contact with airport sponsors, managers and property owners to explain FAA and State of Illinois procedures. Reviewed administrative documents and consultant service contracts.Promoted marketing efforts of the SSA Project by communicating the Department’s objectives to the public on a frequent basis.
